One of the largest annual events in Downtown Durango is the Snowdown Light Parade. This year's date is Friday, February 2, and the parade starts at 6 pm. Here is information on the street and parking closures.

• Parade staging area – 500 block of Main, 5^th Street from Main to Park Elementary – 1:15 to 9 pm
• Parade route – Parade route is Main Ave. from College to 14th Street. 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th Streets, are closed west to Narrow Gauge and east to the alley. 11th and 12th Streets are closed west to Narrow Gauge and east to E. 2nd Ave. 13th Street will be closed east to the alley. These closures start at 2 pm. The Parade route should re-open by 10 pm.
• 500 block of E. 2nd Ave will have no parking from 1:15 to 9 pm. Through traffic allowed until 5 pm, and which time vehicles will not be allowed to drive through. Through traffic will resume when the parade is over around 7 pm.
• The alley between College and 5th Street, Main and E. 2nd Ave. will remain open to through traffic until 5 pm, It should reopen around 7 pm.
• Additionally, 7th Street from Narrow Gauge to Camino del Rio will be closed to parking and traffic from 2:30 to 10 pm.
• Thru traffic only on College (no turns onto Main allowed) from 2:30 to 5 pm. At 5 pm, College from Narrow Gauge to E. 2nd Ave will be closed and traffic will be detoured onto Narrow Gauge and E. 2^nd Ave. Reopens at 10 pm
• The 1100 block of Narrow Gauge is reserved for parade staff parking. No public parking in this area starting at 2 pm, but through traffic still allowed. Starting at 5 pm, no traffic allowed through the block, until 10 pm.
• Pedestrian crossings of Main at 8th and 11th Streets
• Emergency access points – 5^th and Main, College and Main, 9^th and Main, 12^th and Main, 14^th and Main

 

 

FREE Transportation:

• All City bus routes, including the Main Ave. Trolley, are FREE to ride all day from Wednesday January 31 to Saturday February 3.
• Special FREE shuttles for Parade on Friday February 2 from Fairgrounds to Transit Center. Starts at 4:30 pm at Fairgrounds, last shuttle departs Transit Center at 9 pm. Arrives eery 20 to 30 minutes. Brought to you by Snowdown, BID, and the City of Durango.

 

Parking Options:

• Do NOT park at Town Plaza, Albertsons, Doubletree - parking for customers only
• DO park in these locations:
  • City lots after 5 pm (Transit Center and 3 lots on E. 2^nd Ave)
  • Metered parking outside of closure area noted above, must pay meter until 6 pm
• If parking in neighborhoods adjacent to Downtown, do not block driveways
• Look for NO PARKING signs on meters Downtown
• If parked in any Downtown private lot within closure areas, after 2 pm no exit will be allowed
