One of the largest annual events in Downtown Durango is the Snowdown Light Parade. This year's date is Friday, January 31, and the parade starts at 6 pm. Here is information on the street and parking closures.

- Parade staging area – 500 block of Main, 5th Street from Main to Park Elementary – closed starting at 1:30 pm
- Parade route
- Parade route is Main Ave. from College to 14th Street.
- 7th Street west to Naorrow Guage is closed to through traffic, but you canpark there. 7th Street east to the alley is FULLY CLOSED.
- 8th and 10th Street, are closed west to Narrow Gauge and east to the alley to traffic, but you can park there.
- 11th Street is closed west to Narrow Gauge but you can park there. 11th Street east to E. 2nd Ave. is fully closed to parking and traffic.
- 12th Street is closed east to E. 2nd Ave to traffic but you can park there. 12th Street west to Narrow Gauge is NOT closed.
- 13th Street will be closed east to E. 2nd Ave to traffic, but you can park there.
- These closures start at 2:30 pm.
- NOTE that College and 9th Street remain fully open to through traffic and parking until about 4:30 pm - these two streets are how you can get across Main
- The alley between College and 5th Street, Main and E. 2nd Ave. will remain open to through traffic until about 5 pm, It should reopen around 7 pm.
- College and 9th Street to remain open until about 4:30 pm. Those two streets will not re-open until around 7 pm.
- Pedestrian crossings of Main at 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th from 2:30 to right before the parade starts at 6 pm.
- First responders will be stationed on 7th Street east of Main to the alley for any emergencies, including lost kids.
FREE Transportation:
- All City bus routes, including the Main Ave. Trolley, are FREE to ride all day from Wednesday January 29 to Saturday February 1. Thank you to the City of Durango and The Ride Responsible Program!
- Special FREE shuttles for Parade on Friday January 31 from Fairgrounds to Transit Center. Starts at 3 pm at La Plata County Fairgrounds and Event Center, last shuttle departs Transit Center at 8 pm. Arrives eery 20 to 30 minutes. Brought to you by The City of Durango.
- Late night FREE rides! Take the City's DuranGO! on-demand bus for FREE Friday January 31 and Saturday February 1 from 5 pm to midnight. Book a ride through the app - search for DuranGO!
Parking Options:
- Do NOT park at Town Plaza, Albertsons, Doubletree - parking for customers only
- DO park in these locations:
- City lots after 5 pm (Transit Center and 3 lots on E. 2nd Ave)
- Metered parking outside of closure area noted above, must pay meter until 6 pm
- If parking in neighborhoods adjacent to Downtown, do not block driveways
- Look for NO PARKING signs on meters Downtown
- If parked in any Downtown private lot within closure areas, after 2 pm no exit will be allowed
