The Durango Business Improvement District, in partnership with the Durango Chamber of Commerce, is please to once again offer Downtown Children's Halloween. This annual tradition is a great opportunity for merchants to give back to our local families by providing a safe opportunity for children to enjoy Halloween festivities in Downtown Durango.

Downtown Children's Halloween is a collaboration of the Durango Business Improvement Distict and the Durango Chamber of Commerce. This fun community event is a great way to give back to our local families by providing a safe opportunity for children to celebrate Halloween in Downtown Durango.
The Downtown Durango Halloween will take place on Tuesday, October 31.
Merchants are encouraged to participate in this fun Community Event! There are two ways to participate:
The traditional Downtown Trick or Treat with Downtown Merchants will be from 4 to 6 pm. Children dressed in Halloween costumes, ages 10 and under, and accompanied by an adult, will be invited Downtown for trick or treat activities in all participating retail stores, restaurants and businesses.
Halloween Carnival & Trunk or Treat at TBK Bank parking lot from 4 to 6pm. This is event is generously sponsored by TBK and is a benefit for Boys and Girls Club of La Plata County. The carnival will be from 4 to 6 pm and is for ages 14 and under. North Main District businesses and businesses outside of Main Avenue are invited to participate in the Trunk or Treat portion of the carnival. Businesses can use their own vehicle or table/tent in the space provided. Participating businesses should plan on decorating their own spaces and bring all their own supplies. Spaces are limited and pre-registration is required. Set up will begin at 3pm. All vehicles must be in the lot no later then 3:30pm. After this time the lot will be closed to vehicles.

Optional items to consider:
We have recieved requests to have non-candy items for children with allergies. Businesses that offer non-candy items or a game/activity will receive special recognition on the flyer and in marketing information. If you plan on having a non-candy item please check this on the registration form.
We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to market your business by providing flyers, coupons or other marketing tools to over 2,000 parents and children attending this event. Treats don’t have to break the bank, choose the right candy or item for your budget. We strongly suggest that you hand out the treats or items, instead of letting the kids grab as many as they want.
The BID and the Chamber will provide all the advertising, marketing and promotion to drive traffic Downtown on Halloween.
Due to advertising and print deadlines, we ask that all merchants register by Friday, October 13.

Businesses who are signed up by the deadline will be included on the BID website and on a large poster that is hung in the Durango Welcome Center window. We will also promote the event through flyers, postcards, social media, print advertising, radio and more!
