BID will provide information and details about the larger annual events in Downtown as one way to inform businesses of the impacts to Downtown. This will include information on road closures, parking into and other details. Events include: Snowdown Parade in late January/early February, Taste of Durango in mid-May, Iron Horse Bicycle Classic over Memorial Day Weekend, Fourth of July, and Autumn Arts Festival in mid-September. The event promotors will present this information at two BID Coffee and Conversation meetings prior to the event. Businesses are encouraged to attend these meeting to ask questions. The BID monthly meetings are the second Friday of each month at 8:30 to 9:30 am in the community room at TBK Bank.

Taste of Durango

Sunday May 17, 11 am to 4 pm

Taste of Durango set up will close a significant porition of Downtown. The closure begins at 5 am, and includes Main Ave from College to 11th Street. Cross streets (7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th) are also closed on both sides of Main. On the east side, the closure extends to the alley, and the alley will remain open. On the west side, the closure extends to Narrow Gauge, and Narrow Gauge will remain open. This area should re-open for parking and traffic by 7:30 pm. In

8,000 to 10,000 are expected to attend to sample foods from up to 40 local restaurants. Alcohol will be sered as well, from a maximum of 7 booths.

Friday May 22 - Packet pick up and fat tire bike race at Buckley Park

Buckley Park and some surrounding streets are used for this event. 1200 block of Main, 12th street from Main to E. 2nd, and E. 2nd from 12th to 11 th Street are all closed. In addition, the alley bordered by 11th and 12th, and Main and E. 2nd, is also closed. Closure starts at 2:30 and ends at 8:30 pm.

 

Saturday May 23 - Race to Silverton

Riders will stage on Narrow Gauge from College to 7th Street. College is also closed from Main to Camino del Rio, west bound lanes only. Closure starts at 5:45 am.  Riders leave at 8 am all together this year. Streets re-open at 9 am.

 

Sunday May 24 - Mountain Bike Race

This will start in Buckley Park, head east up 12th Street, then south on E. 2nd to 8th Street, then east on 8th Street up to the College and the trails, then back to town following the same route. Closures include 1200 block of Main, 12th Street from Main to E. 2nd Ave, E. 2nd Ave from 12th to 8th Street, and 8th Street all the way to 8th Ave. Closures start at 5 am and end at 8 pm.
