This website, www.downtowndurango.org, is owned and operated by Durango Business Improvement District. Durango Business Improvement District is dedicated to being accessible to all web users and follows the standards laid out in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) international standard, specifically WCAG 2.2. Compliance with these standards is checked with tools such as Google's Lighthouse, the WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tools, and by manual inspection . Because Durango Business Improvement District wants to demonstrate its commitment accessible content for all, we have laid out the steps we've taken over time to ensure accessible web pages for all. This list was last revised on December 1st, 2024. June 2018 - Using Lighthouse, we corrected color contrast ratios and page structure to match the newly released WCAG 2.1 standard.
November 2020 - Checked current content for ALT tags in images and made updates to the site's content management system to ensure that these practices are applied no matter who is editing the content.
November 2021 - Cycled through the site's main pages with a screen reader to ensure clear and easy navigation and readability.
December 2023 - Further evaluation using WAVE tool and Lighthouse to track down areas where content needed to be brought up to the standards set in WCAG 2.2
August 2024 - Improved the main navigation menu for better performance using keyboard only.
