“Facilities” study underway

Motivated by the premise that athletic tournaments and events can be economic drivers for communities, BID, in partnership with the City of Durango, has retained RPI Consulting to fully analyze current and potential opportunities within the area’s event and recreational facilities, plus its natural assets.

RPI will also analyze the utilization of each facility – i.e. how many games are being played at a given location during what time of year and at what time of day. Such data will reveal the “holes” or opportunities for adding events, as well as any shortage of facilities.

The final report, due by early Fall 2011, is expected to forecast potential gross revenue to the community should the opportunity gaps be filled with new events.
