Access & Circulation Focus Group

Parking, Public Transit, Pedestrian, Bicycle, Street Circulation Hierarchy
Gateways Entryways, Way Finding

The street system will identify specific street types by travel mode type, travel lane, parking and general physical characteristics. Certain corridors may have an automobile/transit/pedestrian focus to guide motorists to parking areas, shuttle stops, etc., while other corridors may be more conducive to stronger pedestrian activity with wider sidewalks, outdoor café space, etc. Traffic-calming techniques and gateway features shall be considered to create a more livable and friendly environment within the downtown CBD, Main Avenue and Camino Del Rio districts. The street system is the basis for organizing a circulation structure in the downtown and the street design standards to be developed in sub-task 4.5 below. The street system will be expressed through a graphic map that defines the street-type definition, conceptual cross-sections, and the location of each street type within the Study Area.
