Holidazzle Planning
The Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) presents…
HOLiDAZZLE
Yes…it’s time to make plans for a successful holiday shopping season.
This year, HOLiDAZZLE enters its 6th season of promoting Downtown events, activities, and merchant specials. The dates of HOLiDAZZLE 2009 will be expanded from Thanksgiving to New Years Day, and, as always, full participation from all businesses is encouraged to attract as many shoppers Downtown as possible.
NEW THIS YEAR
HOLiDAZZLE shopping bags will be available for merchants to buy in bulk. These bright red plastic bags are great for decorating your window, and customers will love them. The BID will sponsor a bulk purchase of 5,000 HOLiDAZZLE bags and pay half the cost. Merchants price will be $99 for 200 bags (100 large and 100 small) We will place the order by October 16th. See sample bags at the October 9th monthly meeting.
HOLiDAZZLE 4th annual Rhythms of Durango music CD. This year the theme is holiday music performed exclusively by local artists. The BID produces the CD and merchants may purchase copies in quantity for $10 each. Merchants are provided promotion posters and sales materials and can merchandise the CDs for $15, a $5 profit. They are a great stocking stuffer gift or Christmas present for employees. Paid bulk orders (for large quantities) are due no later than October 16th. Save the date: The Rhythms of Durango CD release party is scheduled for November 27th at the Henry Strater Theatre.
HOLiDAZZLE window lighting offered FREE by LPEA. In an effort to help Downtown merchants with their holiday window decorating and enhance the Downtown experience for shoppers – as well as help retailers conserve energy and save dollars on their electric bills, La Plata Electric Association will donate beautiful jewel-tone, energy efficient LED holiday light strings (up to four boxes per retailer) for the 2009 holiday season (while supplies last). The lights will be available for pick-up from the BID office (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) in mid-October.
RETURNING HIGHLIGHTS
HOLiDAZZLE and Noel Night. Thursday, December 10th is our dedicated shopping day/night with Downtown entertainment and shopping offers. Please plan to participate by staying open until 9 p.m. and providing plenty of in-store dazzle with lights, music and refreshments. Noel Night will have a NEW web site and gift wrapping station in the Main Mall. There is a $95 fee which pays for Noel Night advertising. Call Jane Gould at 385-5179 for more information.
HOLiDAZZLE and the Merchant Gift Drawing is a sure way to drive traffic into stores. Merchants need only provide a gift item of value, a decorated drawing box, and select their winner on December 23rd. We need to know who will be participating by November 6th so we can promote those retailers in our weekly Featured Merchants newspaper insert.
HOLiDAZZLE and the Window Decorating Contest. BID will continue to provide $1,000 in Downtown restaurant gift certificates for the 20 best and brightest holiday window displays. Judging will be December 10th, Noel Night.
HOLiDAZZLE and promotional advertising campaign. BID will spend $15,000 in local advertising to promote HOLiDAZZLE using window posters, newspaper ads and inserts, web site and public relations, including more than 30 Downtown events.
HOLiDAZZLE and YOU, BID provides the money and the staff to promote HOLiDAZZLE but has nothing to promote without your participation. YOU put the dazzle in HOLiDAZZLE. As always…help us, help you.
